Week 5-Mind Mapping

Today is Monday which is week fifth.Mr.Mustafa is our lecturer today also.
Today, our lesson is Logical Mind Mapping.
Mind Mapping,is introbduced by Tony Buzan.

Tony Buzan

Tony Buzan was born in Palmer Green,Enfield, Middlesex. He is an alumnus of Kitsilano Secondary School in Vancover, where he was Head Boys Prefect 1959-60. His brother is the academic Barry Buzan. He is a promoter of mnemonic systems and Mind Mapping techniques. He launched his own software program to support Mind Mapping called iMindMap in December 2006. His website cites trademarks on the phrase 'Mind Maps'.

Following his 1970s series "Use Your Head" for the BBC, many of his ideas have been set into his series of five books: Use Your Memory, Master Your Memory, Use Your Head, The
Speed reading Book and The Mind Map Book. He has since authored or co-authored over 100 books that have appeared in 30 languages.

As a popular psycology author, Tony Buzan has written on subjects relating to the brain, "genius quotient (GQ)", spiritual intelligence, memory, creativity and Speed reading. He is the founder and President of the Brain Foundation (not to be confused with various medical-related bodies with the same name) and also the Brain Trust Charity, the Word Memorize Championship and the World Championships of the Brain. He was a co-founder of London's Mind Body Spirit Festival as well as the Mind Sport Olympiad

What is Mind Mapping?
A mind map is a diagram used to visually outline information. A mind map is often created around a single word or text, placed in the center, to which associated ideas, words and concepts are added. Major categories radiate from a central node, and lesser categories are sub-branches of larger branches.Categories can represent words , ideas ,  tasks, or other items related to a central key word or idea.
Mindmaps can be drawn by hand, either as "rough notes" during a lecture or meeting, for example, or as higher quality pictures when more time is available. An example of a rough mind map is illustrated.
Other terms for this diagramming style are: "spider diagrams," "spidergrams," "spidergraphs," "webs", "mind webs", or "webbing", and "idea sun bursting".(A "spider diagram" used in mathematics and logic is different.)

Mind map guidelines

-Buzan suggests the following guidelines for creating mind maps:
-Start in the center with an image of the topic, using at least 3 colors.
-Use images, symbols, codes, and dimensions throughout your mind map.
-Select key words and print using upper or lower case letters.
-Each word/image is best alone and sitting on its own line.
-The lines should be connected, starting from the central image. The central lines are thicker, organic and
thinner as they radiate out from the centre.
-Make the lines the same length as the word/image they support.
-Use multiple colors throughout the mind map, for visual stimulation and also to encode or group.
-Develop your own personal style of mind mapping.
-Use emphasis and show associations in your mind map.
-Keep the mind map clear by using radial hierarchy, numerical order or outlines to embrace your branches.

This list is itself more concise than a prose version of the same information and the mind map of these guidelines is itself intended to be more memorable and quicker to scan than either the prose or the list.

Mind map uses

Mind maps have many applications in personal, family, educational, and business situations, including notetaking, brainstorming (wherein ideas are inserted into the map radially around the center node, without the implicit prioritization that comes from hierarchy or sequential arrangements, and wherein grouping and organizing is reserved for later stages), summarizing, as a mnemonic technique, or to sort out a complicated idea. Mind maps are also promoted as a way to collaborate in color pen creativity sessions.
Mind maps can be used for:

  • problem solving
  • outline/framework design
  • structure/relationship representations
  • anonymous collaboration
  • marriage of words and visuals
  • individual expression of creativity
  • condensing material into a concise and memorable format
  • team building or synergy creating activity
  • enhancing work morale

Week 4~~History Of Creativity!

A new week again!!
WEEK 4!
Mr.Mustafa is Our lecturer today~

The topic of the lecture is talking about The History of Creativity~

What is the history of Creativity?

One look at the history of man’s ideas about creativity over the ages is all it takes to open a bottomless can of worms. Right from the start in ancient Greece, we have a controversy in the making. The Greek word for art is tecnhe which literally means, “the making of things according to rules.” Rules again!

The theory of the time was: since nature is perfect & operates according to laws, man made things should also conform to rules of ordered structure. How very different from the Puritan founding fathers of the United States who viewed nature as evil, unordered & untamed.

Not until the Latin word creatio comes about is there a title for “that which is created from nothing.” Of course, this is also the time of the Medieval Christian Church & human beings were not seen as capable of creatio, only God. At once, a distinction is made between God’s creative power & that of man, and a battle of semantics ensues.

Inspiration, that spark that ignites the fires of our imagination & impresses on us the need to create, comes from the Latin meaning “immediate influence of God,” and can be further understood by its underlying word inspirare which means to “inflame.” Literally, inspiration is in- “in” and spirare “to breathe” – to breathe in. In Latin, the word spirare is closely related to spiritus, “soul or breath.” Inspiration is the inhalation before the act of creation, the drawing in of the soul or God aspect into our creative process.

The Process of Creativity

The creative attribute has always been a highly debated and researched component of the human psyche. The “designer” job title seems to be one that calls to the more creative minded among us and according to some, requires the highest level of creative processing. This idea does lend itself to the truth, web designers are called upon to find creative solutions every day. However, we certainly aren’t alone.

-The Not-So-Random Spark

For designers we should be able to put this into context fairly easily. Certainly there are those among us who have been plagued with the eternal judgment of the typography, layout, and color choices that we see around us everywhere. Even the task of e-mail a client back and explaining why we shouldn’t make their logo bigger sparks thoughts of alignment, positioning and weight. In processing the things that we do or don’t like we constantly build our mental database of micro-ideas that we apply to our designs.

-Practicing Creativity

For some it may be a little disappointing to think that all of those inspirational moments that came over breakfast, in the shower or on the morning commute were a little more scripted than we thought. On the other side of that coin though lies the potential to place a little more control over our inspirations. Could it be possible that the answer to being a creative individual lies within a process that we can all replicate on demand?

Well, of course there is not worksheet to follow along with that can promise unlimited creative power. We all have different capacities for intelligence, imagination and creativity so naturally some will have higher creative thresholds than others. With that said, there area lot of theories out there about the various thought processes that spark creativity and how they can be harnessed.

-Two Heads are Always Better

Another interesting technique that plays along with the rules of disassociation is the process of making decisions for someone else. In a fun trick of the brain, it turns out that we may very likely be better at making more creative decisions for other people than we are for ourselves. Cashing in on this theory could take us down several paths.

Week 3~The relationship of Innovation and inventive and creative!

Week 3~
Again~!!Nid to type Creative Studies Blog!!
Mr.Yap Sau Bin say alot alot alot of things!!!
This week need to type my comment after saw report which Mr.Yap posted on MMLS~

1st report----The PC is dead, long live the tablet!
7 November 2012 NewYork published a report about Technology~
http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/tech/article/the-pc-is-dead-long-live-the-tablet/

What is the meaning of innovation?
Innovation is the development of new customers value through solutions that meet new needs, inarticulate needs, or old customer and market needs in new ways. This is accomplished through different or more effective prosucts, services, technology or ideas
What does it tell us about the process of invention and innovation?

Tablets and Smartphone will replace PC and Laptop in future~After 10 or 15 years~
Mayb no laptop or PC in this world more~~
all are Tablets and Smartphone~
Why??
Because Tablet is more easy to bring out and its function is same with laptop or PC~
Can connect WiFi can suft the internet can do everythings which PC or Laptop can do~

Carolina Milanesi say inn 2016, two-thirds of the mobile workforce will own a smartphone, and 40 per cent of the workforce will be mobile.

And it is this shift in power that is fuelling trends such as Bring Your Own Device BYOD and that is in turn forcing businesses to re-examine their IT needs and their approach to productivity.

Milanesi say CIOs who balance workers’ passion for Apple with the needs of IT will reap surprising benefits and prepare the business for entry of other consumer-market vendor technologies.

2nd report----Wi-fi, dual-flush loos and eight more Australian inventions
Question : Ask yourself what kind of environment, situation etc., would make you to become a creative/inventive/innovative person?

For me?
Actually i really dunnoe what enviroment can make me to become a creative/inventive/innovative person.....

Maybe When I am as a team with my friends my buddies i can share my idea with them and will gain their idea n mix to become a new idea ~!
In a peaceful and silent place~~lets my heart calm down and think positive think a new idea creative idea!
